WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR SERVICE?

  • Frail older people
  • People with disabilities
  • Carers

We support people wishing to remain in their own homes and are experiencing difficulties with the normal tasks of daily living.

Neighbour Aid services are provided to clients living in the areas of Helensburgh, Stanwell Tops, Stanwell Park, Coalcliff, Clifton, Scarborough, Wombarra, Coledale, Otford, Lilyvale and Darkes Forest. Meal services cover all areas to Coalcliff.

COST OF SERVICES:

Fees for services assist in reimbursing our volunteer's vehicle expenses. However, services will not be refused if clients are unable to pay.

 

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • SHOPPING & BILL PAYING: weekly
  • MEN'S SOCIAL OUTINGS: monthly
  • MIXED SOCIAL OUTINGS: alternate mid-week and weekends. The community bus is used for all of the above outings and provides fully escorted door to door service
  • INDIVIDUAL TRANSPORT: Volunteer vehicle assistance to attend doctor and other important appointments.
  • HOME VISITING / RESPITE: Volunteers visit people wishing support and companionship. Relief is also available for carers.
  • MEAL SERVICES: Meal service providing frozen and hot meals, available for delivery and pickup. Menu and variety of meal types available
  • CAFE CLUB: Weekly group providing Culture, Activity, Friendship and Education to clients in Helensburgh
  • INDIVIDUAL SHOPPING AND BILL PAYING
  • INFORMATION & REFERRAL
  • AT HOME ASSISTANCE: Register of businesses providing cleaning, gardening, home maintenance, personal care and home delivery services
  • LETTER WRITING
  • COMMUNITY BUS HIRE: 19 seater for community groups only

ADVOCACY:

We encourage the use of client advocates or representatives chosen by the client. Advocates negotiate, represent or speak on behalf of the client to protect their interests.

An advocate will be present during client interviews and meetings or at any time decisions are to be made.

WHAT IF I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE SERVICES PROVIDED?

We aim to provide a high quality service and we need to know if you have any concerns about the assistance you receive. We can only improve if we know that there is a problem. It is your right to make a complaint or to voice any concerns you may have. We use this opportunity to improve on what we do and how we do it.

Services will not be stopped if you complain.

VOLUNTEERS ARE VITAL TO US:

If you have:

  • Empathy for those in need of support
  • A few hours of spare time
  • A current licence or LR drivers licence for bus driving
  • A desire to meet new friends
  • A good sense of humour

WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE!

Volunteer drivers are needed to provide Individual transport, deliver meals and drive the community bus (LR licence or better). Home visitors and bus escorts, meal packers and Cafe Club workers are also required.

Volunteer training is provided and volunteers are reimbursed for the use of their vehicles.
